(LAYOUT 06/07 →) irrationality, raging and reduced.
Thanks for 290+ members. Hopefully that number will start nearing 500 sooner, rather than later. Requests possibly? Anyways, it's Spring Break which means- updates! Contain your excitement, please. :>

This one was fun, and the stylesheet is -dramatic pause- minimalism. Surprise, surprise. I made two versions. The first version is not for the faint of heart, as it is more -in your face-, and bolder, hence the title (I was seriously, irrationally angry when I first started designing this). The second version is more subdued, with a more refined aesthetic. I decided to go for both to show some versatility and excitement, while still keeping a balance of simplicity. Not that any of you care about the logistics.. go ahead, skip on down to the (codes) goods.

Appearance: Top bar with header background and standard links- "user info", "recent entries", etc.
Alternate Versions: "Reduced" - a more refined, tame version

Go to customize your journal style.
Choose a 'Minimalism' style-sheet and have the '2 column (sidebar on right)' is selected under Page Setup. Then click on customize your theme. Go to 'Custom CSS', set the first two drop-downs to NO, and insert the CSS provided below.

Irrationality (with header-ish background)

Irrationality, reduced

Disabled: The calendar, tags list, blurb and page summary in the Topbar. The title and subtitle display. No header images.
Enabled: Topbar links.
Additional: On the 'Display' menu, under the Additional Options tab, select YES to show the user picture on all entries and then select RIGHT as the position for the user picture in each entry.
Ad Placement: Ad placement should be set to 'Horizontal' or 'Between Entries'.

Saving/Hosting: All tiny icons should be saved to your own hardrive and reuploaded onto an image hosting site, just to be on the safe side.
Editing: Feel free to change/edit the backgrounds, color scheme, etc.
Just don't change the framework CSS and be sure to have a link back to fleeting_days as credit somewhere, anywhere on your livejournal.
Questions(?): If you have any problems, please comment. A small help tutorial will be coming soon.

hey! I'm attempting to use the reduced layout, but for whatever reason it isn't quite working out (check out my journal to see what it looks like now).
I'm not sure exactly where I went wrong, so maybe a little guidance might help?
Christinelady_mad0nna on March 15th, 2011 03:46 am (UTC)
also- I haven't really used lj in ages, basically since before there were themes and whatnot so I've become lj-illiterate again. It may take some spelling out..
AJ。silentevocation on March 15th, 2011 03:57 am (UTC)
hey, you have to change all the dropdown boxes to "no", especially the one that says use lj stylesheet. that should work!

also make sure its the minimalism stylesheet. tell me if that works

Using on my graphic community. Link is waitedforwords

Question; could you possibly give me all of the links to the tiny icon things so I can upload them all to photobucket... I have saved some but I want to check whether I have them all before uploading

Okay, I did some testing, and strangely enough, I think it has to do with the stylesheet chosen. Try changing the stylesheet to Minimalism "Black Pit" or "Desert Fire", and let me know if that fixed it.

Hi! I'm using your layout for this site http://community.livejournal.com/infernal_desire but I can't seem to fix the nav links to go down a bit. It covers a bit of the banner text. Is there a way to fix it?
AJ。silentevocation on March 25th, 2011 03:32 am (UTC)
okay, so the way you added your own banner and darkened the background is great! i like it.

umm. i would change the minimalism stylesheet to "black pit", that will get rid of the RSS link which is not supposed to be there in the first place. also.. I just found where your error was, by pure chance. And I spent 15 minutes trying to see what was wrong.

li.item-selected {
text-shadow: 3px 2px 2px #000000;
font-style: italic;

See where line height is? You need to add the (:) colon back. GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSH, yes; that little thing throws it off. *sigh* but I would change the font back to 42px, at any rate.

I love the reduced version, but I want to add my own header to it! Is there a way to make that happen? The first one is definitely too bold for my taste ;;

Love the top one! Reminds me of fireworks. Using that layout, will credit you in my profile. Thank you! ♥

Currently using your layout for my community, thank you so much for your hard work!

One thing I would like to change though is the tags page, I can't figure out how to get them to list one by one instead of just being a big block of text - makes it more than a tad confusing.

Any help in fixing this would be much appreciated! =)
AJ。silentevocation on July 11th, 2011 11:50 pm (UTC)
I'm not quite sure I know what you're talking about, and I can't check your tags page because you have no entries with tags..

Maybe try a display:inline;

but I can't really say for sure.
Kryzkryztal_ray on July 12th, 2011 02:27 am (UTC)
Well, I added a test post (and added the line you suggested to the css) to no results.

What I'd like to be able to fix (if able) is to have the tags list like this:

tag one
tag two
tag three

one on each line, instead of one after another in a block like this:

tag one tag two tag three

Sorry for not being clear before, and it didn't occur to me you wouldn't be able to see all the tags - wasn't thinking, obviously. =x Please let me know if there's anything more you need to know.

alright so this is a relatively simple fix. go into your code and replace the whole current div.content-tags {} div.content-tags a{} with these:

div.content-tags {

div.content-tags a{

Basically you just add display:block; to the tags a to make it a list, and then i moved the links over to the left by making the width 100%, aligning text to the left, and adding the padding on the left to shift it over a bit. Hope this works!

*Just* what I needed, thank you so much! <3
